Stormy weather caused disruption on Monday morning in Fazantendreef, in the Sint-Michiels area of Bruges.
A tree in a garden was blown down onto the public road, creating a major obstruction in the area.
When the tree fell, it also pulled down power cables, cutting electricity to part of the neighborhood. The outage caused problems for local residents, with some unable to enter their homes because their electric gates stopped working.
Bruges firefighters were sent to the scene to cut up the fallen tree and clear the road. The utility company was also expected to repair the damaged power lines and restore electricity to affected homes as quickly as possible.
Residents were advised to remain cautious while the cleanup and repair work continued. Traffic in the area could also be affected until the road and damaged infrastructure were fully cleared.
