Belgian Drug Trafficking Suspect Extradited From Dubai

Nasserdine Tarrahi, a 38-year-old Antwerp drug trafficking suspect known as “Nadori,” has been extradited from Dubai to Belgium. The alleged leading figure in the Turtles criminal gang arrived in Brussels on Wednesday and was taken to Haren Prison.

Tarrahi was arrested in late July while visiting a shopping mall in Dubai. He had remained in custody in the United Arab Emirates while Belgian authorities worked to secure his extradition.

His lawyer, Tim Smet, has not commented on the case.

Nadori Faces Major Prison Sentences in Belgium

Tarrahi has been a well-known name in Antwerp’s drug underworld for years. As a young man, he was associated with the Turtles gang, which was linked to a 2012 cocaine theft that triggered serious drug-related violence.

The gang also inspired the Belgian crime film *Patser*, directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah.

Tarrahi has several criminal cases behind him. In 2022, he was sentenced to five years in prison in a case involving the Mixers drug gang. He had also previously received a two-year sentence after 1.5 kilograms of cocaine were found at his home in Antwerp.

More recently, he received a 12-year prison sentence in a major drug trafficking case linked to the hacking of the encrypted communications service Sky ECC. The court also imposed a 96,000-euro fine and ordered the confiscation of 5 million euros.

Investigators Link Him to 840 Kilograms of Cocaine

Investigators examining the Sky ECC messages concluded that Tarrahi coordinated the importation of 840 kilograms of cocaine from Dubai in 2020.

According to the investigation, people working with him managed the operations from a property on Kattenberg in Borgerhout, Antwerp. Surveillance cameras had been installed inside the building, allowing Tarrahi to monitor activities remotely from Dubai.

The camera footage later provided investigators with important evidence, according to the report.

Last week, prosecutors in Antwerp sought an additional seven-year prison sentence in a separate Sky ECC case. That investigation concerns a criminal logistics operator accused of handling a shipping container containing 472 kilograms of cocaine for Tarrahi.

Tarrahi was tried in his absence in the Sky ECC cases and the Mixers case. He is expected to challenge the relevant convictions through Belgium’s legal procedures.

Millions Invested in Dubai Real Estate

Tarrahi is among several Antwerp-linked criminal suspects who moved to Dubai over the past decade and invested in property.

According to an investigation published by *Gazet van Antwerpen* in 2025, Tarrahi and a family member bought Dubai properties worth approximately 5.5 million euros between 2019 and 2021.

The available information indicates that the properties were later sold, reportedly generating several million euros in additional profit.

One of the developments associated with the properties was Marina Vista, a residential complex located near Palm Jumeirah in Dubai.

The case also highlights the challenges Belgian authorities face when pursuing suspects who move abroad and invest money in international real estate.

Belgium Faces the Challenge of Recovering Criminal Assets

Tarrahi’s extradition brings him back to Belgium, where he faces the consequences of several major drug investigations.

However, extradition and the recovery of alleged criminal proceeds are separate legal issues. Investigators and authorities must still establish which assets can legally be seized or confiscated and how any relevant court orders can be enforced.

The case illustrates how investigations into Antwerp’s cocaine trade can extend far beyond Belgium’s borders, involving encrypted communications, international shipping routes and property investments in Dubai.

Belgium Brief will continue to follow developments in the case.
