Belgian Police Chase Arab Refugee in Antwerp

A Belgian police chase in Antwerp ended with officers finding a modified electric scooter after an Arab refugee reportedly fled during a police check.
The incident happened Thursday in Merksem. Officers from the local police team saw the man riding an electric scooter on Lange Bremstraat. When he noticed the police, he reportedly took off toward a nearby park.
The officers lost sight of him, but children playing in the area helped point them in the right direction. They told police that the man had hidden in the bushes.
When officers searched the area, they found the abandoned scooter, but the man was gone.
Police later tested the scooter and found that it could reach a top speed of 108 kilometers per hour. The vehicle had been modified with a switch on the handlebars and is set to be destroyed.
