Flanders Ends Applications for Its €250 Appliance Voucher
The Flemish government has stopped accepting new applications for its Mijn Kortingsbon program, which helped eligible households buy energy-efficient household appliances at a lower cost.
The change took effect on January 1, 2026. However, people who already received a voucher may still be able to use it, depending on its expiry date.
What Happened to the Mijn Kortingsbon Program?
On October 24, 2025, the Flemish government decided in principle to end applications for the Mijn Kortingsbon program from January 1, 2026.
The scheme was designed to help eligible households in Flanders reduce their energy consumption by replacing certain household appliances with more energy-efficient models.
Although new applications are no longer accepted, existing vouchers have not automatically become invalid. According to the Flemish government’s official website, unused vouchers remain valid until the expiry date printed on each voucher.
Which Appliances Were Covered?
The program offered financial support for eligible energy-efficient household appliances, including:
- Washing machines
- Refrigerators
- Freezers
Under the program’s previous rules, eligible households could receive a voucher worth 250 euros for a qualifying appliance. The number of vouchers a household could receive depended on the program’s conditions and the types of appliances involved.
The scheme was subject to eligibility requirements, including household income limits. Not every resident of Flanders automatically qualified.
Can You Still Apply for a Voucher in 2026?
No. New applications have been closed since January 1, 2026.
If you already have a voucher, check the expiry date printed on it. The government confirms that unused vouchers remain valid until that date.
If your voucher has expired, you should not assume that it can still be used. Contact the relevant service for clarification before making a purchase.
For households planning to replace an old appliance, the key point is that the Mijn Kortingsbon scheme is no longer open to new applicants. Existing voucher holders should check their individual expiry dates to see whether they can still use their vouchers.
