Mother and Daughter Found Dead in Belgium
A 51-year-old woman and her 20-year-old daughter were found dead inside a home in Iddergem, a section of Denderleeuw in East Flanders, Belgium, on Sunday night, September 27.
The East Flanders Public Prosecutor’s Office said police discovered the two bodies at a property on Leliestraat at around 11 p.m. Emergency services arrived at the scene, but the victims could not be saved.
Authorities have opened a murder investigation into the deaths. An investigating judge was appointed, and the prosecutor’s office, forensic investigators and a medical examiner went to the property as part of the initial investigation.
17-Year-Old Suspect Arrested
A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the case. According to the prosecutor’s office, he is the son of the 51-year-old woman who was found dead.
The teenager is expected to be questioned about the incident and will later appear before a juvenile judge.
Investigators have not released further details about what happened inside the home or the circumstances surrounding the deaths. The investigation is ongoing.
The case has shocked the local community in Denderleeuw, a municipality in East Flanders that includes Iddergem.
