Proximus Raises Prices in Belgium but Introduces Cheaper Plans

Proximus customers in Belgium will pay more for several internet, mobile and telecom bundles starting January 1, 2027. The price increases will range from 2 to 4 euros per month, depending on the services included in each package.
However, the telecom company is also introducing cheaper entry-level options for customers who do not need large amounts of mobile data or high internet speeds.
Some subscriptions will also include more data and faster internet, while Proximus is making changes to its most popular mobile plans. Its subsidiary Scarlet will also increase prices.
Proximus mobile plans: New prices and more data
Proximus is changing both the prices and features of its mobile subscriptions.
One of the biggest changes concerns Mobile Essential, its entry-level mobile plan. The monthly price will drop by 99 cents to 16 euros. Customers will receive 7 GB of mobile data instead of 5 GB, with download speeds of up to 220 Mbps.
At the other end of the range, Mobile Unlimited will become cheaper, with its monthly price falling from 49.99 euros to 45 euros. However, customers using the popular Mobile Smart plan will pay slightly more.
Its price will increase from 24.99 euros to 26 euros per month. In return, the included data allowance will increase from 70 GB to 80 GB, while maximum download speeds will rise from 500 Mbps to 750 Mbps.
Fiber internet prices are also increasing
Customers using Proximus’ Mega Fiber subscription will also see a price increase. The monthly cost will rise from 64.99 euros to 67.99 euros.
Customers who do not have fiber available at home can continue choosing the Light and Go internet plans, which offer lower speeds. Their prices will remain unchanged.
Proximus says the changes are intended to provide customers with more options, including basic packages for people who do not need premium internet services.
Cheaper internet and mobile bundles
One of the main changes is the introduction of a cheaper combination of mobile and home internet services.
From January 1, the cheapest combination will cost 69.99 euros per month. This compares with the current price of 72.99 euros without fiber and 79.99 euros with fiber.
However, the cheaper package comes with limitations. It includes only 7 GB of mobile data and does not provide access to the 5G network.
Customers who mainly use their phones for calls, messages and occasional internet browsing may find this option more suitable.
Existing Proximus customers will also pay more
The price increases will not only affect customers signing up for new subscriptions.
People who still use older Proximus plans that are no longer available to new customers will also face monthly increases of between 2 and 4 euros, depending on their services.
Customers may therefore want to compare their current subscriptions with the new packages to see whether switching could save them money.
Scarlet prices will also increase
Scarlet, a budget telecom brand owned by Proximus, will also introduce price increases from January 1, 2027. Its subscription prices will rise by between 2 and 3 euros per month.
However, Scarlet customers will receive improvements to their internet services, with higher download and/or upload speeds across all internet plans.
The entry-level Poco subscription will also include more mobile data, increasing from 50 GB to 100 GB.
What should Proximus and Scarlet customers do?
The upcoming changes mean that some Belgian customers will pay more, while others could save money by switching to a cheaper package.
Customers should check their current subscriptions, compare the new prices and consider how much mobile data and internet speed they actually need.
Choosing a smaller package could reduce monthly costs, but customers who rely on 5G, high data allowances or fast fiber internet should carefully check the new conditions before changing their plans.
