Belgian Man Wakes From Coma After Brutal Attack

Mario Bergerie, 60, has woken up from a coma after he was brutally attacked at a train station in Waarschoot, Belgium.
Mario was on his way to work early Tuesday morning when two 16-year-olds allegedly attacked him and took about 15 euro.
He suffered serious injuries, including broken bones around his eyes and nose, and later suffered a brain hemorrhage. The two teenagers had escaped from an institution before the attack and were later arrested.
Mario’s brother said he has now opened one eye and is slowly getting better, although he is still in a lot of pain.
His family thanked the doctors and nurses at AZ Alma hospital in Eeklo for caring for him.
A memorial gathering for Mario and his family will be held at Waarschoot train station on Sunday evening.
