Bobbejaanland New Nickelodeon Area to Open in 2027

Bobbejaanland has started construction on a new Nickelodeon area with three family attractions featuring popular characters such as Garfield and SpongeBob.

The new Bobbejaanland area will be built just after the park entrance and is scheduled to open in April 2027. The project will cost around 15 million euro, making it one of the biggest investments in Bobbejaanland’s history.

Bobbejaanland CEO Yves Peeters described the project as an important step for the Belgian amusement park.

Visitors will find three new family attractions in the Nickelodeon themed area. The project is part of Bobbejaanland’s plan to offer more than traditional amusement park rides and create stronger themed experiences for families.

The first new attraction will be a wild swing that can carry up to 18 people at the same time. The ride will take visitors up to 12 meters into the air.

A 15-meter-high free-fall tower will also be added to the new Bobbejaanland area.

The third attraction, called Big Wavez, will be a large water ride. Visitors will be lifted more than 20 meters before falling down and creating a huge wave that can reach 10 meters high. People standing near the attraction will also be able to see and experience the wave.

According to Peeters, Big Wavez will be the first attraction of its kind to be installed in this way in Europe.

To make space for the Bobbejaanland new Nickelodeon area, some existing attractions will be removed. The work has already started inside a closed safety zone and is not expected to cause problems for park visitors.

Bobbejaanland’s 15 Million euro Investment

The new Nickelodeon area is part of a major investment of around 15 million euro.

Peeters said the project, together with the investment in the Fury roller coaster in 2019, is one of the biggest investments ever made by Bobbejaanland.

“We are in a very competitive industry and we want to keep improving and growing,” Peeters said.

According to the CEO, Bobbejaanland has seen visitor numbers increase steadily in recent years. He also said visitor satisfaction has improved, although the park did not release exact figures.

What the New Bobbejaanland Area Means for the Park

Theme park expert Erwin Taets said the investment should not automatically be seen as proof that Bobbejaanland is performing extremely well financially.

Bobbejaanland has been owned by Spanish amusement park group Parques Reunidos since 2004. The group also owns other parks, including Movie Park Germany.

Taets explained that the parent company decides when and where major investments are made across its parks. Investments can also follow a cycle of five to seven years.

Because of this, the opening of a major new attraction does not necessarily show how well Bobbejaanland is performing. In the same way, a park does not automatically have financial problems if it goes several years without a major new ride.

Still, theme park fan Bart de Paepe welcomed the new Bobbejaanland attractions. He said the Nickelodeon theme could attract more families and reflects a wider trend in the amusement park industry toward stronger themed experiences.

De Paepe said he would have preferred a bigger and more extreme roller coaster, but he was pleased to see new investment in the park.

The Bobbejaanland new Nickelodeon area is scheduled to open in April 2027, giving families three new attractions to look forward to.
