Deadly Biogas Plant Collapse in Denmark Injures Belgian

A deadly accident at a biogas plant on the Danish island of Funen left three workers dead and six others injured, including a Belgian worker.
The accident happened on November 26, 2024, at the Flemløse Biogas plant near Assens, as workers were building a new silo. The roof structure suddenly collapsed at around 6 p.m.
Two Romanian workers, aged 20 and 25, were among those killed. A 53-year-old Belgian project manager also died after being trapped at the site.
Six other workers were injured. They included two Romanians, three Polish workers and one Belgian, according to Danish authorities.
The rescue operation was difficult because large amounts of concrete and metal had collapsed inside the silo.
The accident triggered an investigation into what caused the structure to fail. Danish authorities later identified several safety concerns at the construction site, including workers operating at height without adequate safety measures.
The incident was described as one of the most serious construction accidents in Denmark in decades. Further investigations examined the construction work and the safety conditions at the biogas plant.
