Belgium’s Most Wanted Criminal Arrested After Escape
One of Belgium’s most wanted criminals has been arrested again after escaping police custody twice.
Mohamed-Amine Dardour, a 25-year-old man from Brussels, was arrested on August 3 in Sint-Katelijne-Waver, outside Brussels.
Police found Dardour inside a vehicle and arrested him during an operation involving the Bodukap Police Zone and the Zenne Valley Police Zone. The Federal Police confirmed the arrest.
According to police, Dardour was under the influence of drugs and was carrying a fake ID when he was arrested. Authorities had previously described him as dangerous.
Dardour first became known to police in July 2020, when he turned himself in at the age of 19. He and Youssef Jeddi were suspected of being involved in a deadly shooting in Forest, Brussels.
One person was killed in the shooting and two others were injured.
The two men were later charged with murder and attempted murder. They were expected to face trial before the assize court this autumn.
But before the trial could begin, Dardour removed his electronic ankle bracelet and escaped with Jeddi.
The two men stayed on the run for about a year and a half. In March 2024, Spanish police finally arrested them in Malaga after an investigation involving Belgian and Spanish authorities.
Jeddi was returned to Belgium, but Dardour managed to escape again on June 17.
After his second escape, Dardour was placed on Belgium’s Most Wanted list as well as Europe’s Most Wanted list.
His time on the run ended on August 3 when police found him in Sint-Katelijne-Waver.
A new investigation has now been opened by the Antwerp public prosecutor’s office because of new facts involving Dardour.
He was brought before an investigating judge in Mechelen. After questioning, the judge ordered that he remain in custody over allegations involving the possession of prohibited weapons and ammunition.
Dardour is now back in custody as Belgian authorities continue their investigations into the new allegations and the earlier criminal case.
