Belgian Woman Reveals How She Killed Her Algerian Partner

The partner of an Algerian man who disappeared eight years ago has reportedly revealed new details about how he died. Farid Bouzid, 48, was found this summer buried beneath a concrete structure in the backyard of the home he shared with his partner in Visé, Liège province.

Éloïse, 36, had previously admitted that she killed Farid. According to Sudinfo, she has now provided investigators with more details about what happened.

Farid disappeared in 2018. At the time, Éloïse told people that she believed he had returned to his roots in Algeria. She and their four-year-old son were left behind, and no one heard from Farid for years.

The case was reopened this spring by the specialized cold-case unit of the Liège judicial police after investigators discovered a new element. One possible clue was a concrete structure that had been built in the couple’s backyard shortly after Farid disappeared.

In June, family members of the couple were questioned. Éloïse was also questioned by investigators. After two days, she reportedly admitted that she had killed Farid. His remains were found on July 3.

How Farid Was Allegedly Killed?

According to Sudinfo, Éloïse denies that she planned the killing in advance. She has reportedly given investigators more information about how Farid died.

Farid suffered from migraines, according to friends and former colleagues. When he experienced severe attacks, Éloïse, who worked as a home-care nurse, sometimes gave him medication.

According to the report, investigators suspect that Éloïse changed the medication when Farid suffered another severe headache.

Sudinfo reported that some investigators believe she may have given Farid an overdose of insulin. He then died in her presence.

The exact circumstances surrounding his death are still being investigated, including how his body was moved and placed beneath the concrete structure in the backyard.

Farid was about 1.80 meters tall and weighed just under 100 kilograms, meaning moving his body would likely have been difficult for one person.

Relationship Problems

Investigators are also examining the possible reasons behind the killing. The couple reportedly had serious relationship problems and had been planning to separate.

On January 21 and 22, 2016, Éloïse filed complaints against Farid. The first involved alleged threats and intimidation. The second concerned alleged violence during a serious argument.

Farid was arrested and brought before authorities.

However, during the legal proceedings that followed, Éloïse changed her account. She said she had exaggerated her earlier statements and had accused Farid of things he had not done.

She also said she had “started the argument herself” and described both of them as impulsive people who frequently argued about the terms of their planned separation. Farid ultimately received a suspended sentence.

She Now Says the Situation Became Unbearable

Éloïse has reportedly changed her account again. According to Sudinfo, she told investigators that the situation at home had become “unbearable.”

Éloïse is currently being held at Marche-en-Famenne prison while the investigation continues.
