Belgian Health Minister Delays UGent Lecture

Belgian Health Minister Frank Vandenbroucke has postponed an opening lecture at Ghent University on medical advice, according to VTM NIEUWS.

The 70-year-old Vooruit minister was scheduled to attend the lecture by professor Carl Devos on Tuesday, but the event has been postponed because of his health.

Vandenbroucke Ordered to Rest

Vandenbroucke has been advised by doctors to rest until Friday. He has already missed several events in recent weeks because of illness, although he attended a key government meeting last Friday.

According to reports, the minister is dealing with an inflammation that could take several more weeks to fully recover from.

A new date for the lecture has already been planned for next week, although the university still needs to officially confirm it.
